It is the goal of the Raymond Village Library to provide a safe, enjoyable experience and environment for each child who visits the library. The following policy has been adopted to clarify for parents/guardians, the concern of the library for the well being of its young patrons. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Parents or legal guardians are responsible for the conduct of their minor children (under 18 years of age) in the library or on library grounds, regardless of whether they are accompanying their children or not.

The library staff/volunteer is not responsible for any unattended minor child or for preventing them from leaving the library.

Children under the age of 8 visiting the library must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or assigned caregiver age 12 or older carrying emergency contact information or who is able to attend to the child’s safety and ensure appropriate behavior.

Children between the ages of 8 and 18 must have emergency contact information and have arranged transportation with his/her parent/guardian.

Children of all ages who do not have transportation home at closing time will be asked for telephone numbers of people who can pick them up at the library. If transportation is not available within 30 minutes of closing, the police/sheriff will be asked to provide custody.

Under no circumstances will staff/volunteer transport children in a vehicle or accompany them home.

The Raymond Village Library assumes no responsibility (no liability) for children left unattended on library premises, including prior to or following all scheduled events.
